Our History

Willowlee Sod is owned and operated by Kurt Vanclief, the third generation in his family to farm in Prince Edward County. Kurt grew up raising livestock and farming grains, fruits, and vegetables. Locals might remember picking strawberries at Willowlee to make delicious jam.

Kurt bought his first farm in 1989 and continued the tradition of growing strawberries, corn, and soybeans. Following his completion of the Canadian Total Excellence in Agricultural Management Program (CTEAM), Kurt realized that the fertile soil at his farm was ideal for growing Kentucky Bluegrass.

Since 2000, Willowlee Sod Farms has been the sod and green ground cover products provider of choice for residential and commercial customers in Kingston, Prince Edward County, and the surrounding region.

Dedicated to providing exceptional products and friendly customer service, we are proud of the long-standing customer relationships that our team has developed over the years. Providing sustainable and high-quality solutions is our speciality. We are proud to be a ‘people first’ organization.

Drought Tolerant Sod

As a member of the Turfgrass Water Conservation Alliance, we are committed to ensuring that our sod is grown using 30% less water than traditional sod. Every drop of water saved makes a difference by conserving water, reducing emissions, and helping our planet.

You can enjoy peace of mind knowing that you’re doing your part by purchasing ecologically friendly sod that requires less maintenance and water.

We have also participated in the Ontario Environmental Farm Plan since the early 1990s. This peer reviewed program is designed to aid in the creation of action plans to improve the land and water quality of rural Ontario.
